Claudia Cisneros, Team Lead

Claudia Cisneros is an Emmy Award–winning multimedia journalist, video producer, and writer with extensive experience covering human interest stories, social justice issues, and breaking news across international media platforms. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she specializes in research-driven storytelling, video production, and strategic communications, and has reported and produced for major outlets including CNN International, the BBC, CBC, Discovery, and leading newsrooms in the United States and Latin America.

 

Her work has earned multiple recognitions, including a 2024 L.A. Area News Emmy Award, three Golden Mike Awards for Best Writing, Feature Reporting, and Breaking News, Peru’s National Human Rights Award in Journalism (2014), and the National Association of Journalists of Peru Career Achievement Award (2019). She is also the author of Insist and Resist: Civil Disobedience in Peru (2017) and has published creative work in U.S. Spanish-language anthologies.

 

In addition to her media and academic work, Claudia has hands-on experience supporting survivors of gender-based violence. She served as a hotline and first responder for domestic violence cases (SAOP, OH), gaining direct experience in trauma-informed crisis intervention. As the head of SpeakUp (OU, OH), she organized events and fostered community for victims and survivors on campus. She currently works as a curriculum instructor for middle and high school students, teaching tools for healthy teen relationships and teen dating–violence prevention for Taking Back Our Lives organization.

 

Claudia’s career bridges journalism, feminist research, and creative nonfiction, with a strong commitment to intersectional feminism, human rights, anti-corruption, and Indigenous sovereignty. She holds master’s degrees in Journalism, Communication and Development (Ohio University), and Women’s and Gender Studies (DePaul University), where she is completing a master’s in Writing and Publishing. Her work continues to explore the power of narrative as a tool for visibility, memory, and social transformation.
